Hi there,

I was able to acquire 5 gross of some unique bottle caps. They say " Home Use Crown" on the outside and they have a cork inner liner. They are in sealed boxes, and appear to be from the 30's or 40's. Any idea what they might be worth to a collector?

Would these be safe to use for long laydown of strong beers?
I would boil and then starsan them prior to using.

Thanks,
Lyn Davidson

I am not sure about value, but sometimes it is a bad idea to boil cork because some of them are sealed and the heat will melt the seal.

Crown caps (bottle caps) are indeed collectable but usually with a brand name or a tax stamp on them. There are many, mant breweriana collecters out there (I am one) and almost anything with a brewery or beer name on it is collectable. I have paid upward of $200.00 for a single used crown. (Home Brew from Christian Heurich Brewery of Washington DC a brewery that I specialize in).
