Flying Dog Brewery and Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey offer free tours throughout the holiday season. It's amazingly fun and what you see may amaze you!

Finding ways to entertain out of town guests around the holidays, other than eating out and more shopping, can be difficult. A group outing to the movies for a group of five can run over $75 bucks in a hurry and a drive up to the mountains can be time consuming and treacherous at times.

Downtown Denver’s Flying Dog Brewery has the perfect idea for a day out on the town with the out-of-towners – and best of all, it’s FREE! Flying Dog is Denver’s largest brewery and offers tours Monday – Friday at 4pm and Saturdays at 1pm and 3pm. All brewery tours include a complimentary beer tasting and a tour of Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey Distillery, which is located right next door. And if that’s not enough, Blake Street Tavern is just steps away and offers plenty of TVs and some of the best bar food in Denver.

“Our tours are unique because we let our visitors get so close to the action. They get to taste the beer, smell the hops, and stand right next to the fermentors,” said Flying Dog’s Director of Marketing, Neal Stewart. “And every tour is a little different, we don’t believe in scripted, pre-rehearsed tours.”

The Brewery is located at 2401 Blake Street, just 2 blocks North of the baseball stadium. Tours will take place as regularly scheduled on all days throughout the holiday season except for December 25th (Christmas Day) and January 1st (New Years Day).

For more information, call the Flying Dog Brewery at 303.292.5027 or log on to www.flyingdogales.com.

About Flying Dog

Flying Dog is Denver’s largest brewery and the second largest craft brewery in the state of Colorado. Their award-winning “litter of ales” are available in 45 states. Hunter S. Thompson, the infamous gonzo journalist, had a hand in the brewery’s development, and the beers are easily spotted thanks to Gonzo artist Ralph Steadman, the packaging designer. The latest addition to the Flying Dog family is Doggie Ware, a lifestyle and apparel company with an online store at www.FlyingDogAles.com.

I'm not local to Denver or planning to travel there soon, but your tour program sounds to be among the best I've seen in terms of both frequency and delivering a good tour as opposed to a canned presentation like larger breweries tend to offer. We have travel plans for Ireland, but the more I read about the Guinness tour the less I want to take it.

How about the New Frederick, MD plant?

Notice how they deftly stepped around the name of the baseball stadium they're near? Clever, clever... :D

Thinking that me and a few friends might try to make it to a 3pm tour someday soon. Sounds good! Love the beer, too.

If you're not in the Denver area and aren't planning on visiting soon (bah!) - you can also visit the brewery on the East Coast that brews our beers - the Wild Goose Brewery. They are in Frederick, MD and are open to the public on Saturdays at 1pm. You can find them at www.wildgoosebrewery.com

If you are planning on coming in with a group of 5 or more, drop a line and let us know and we can arrange a special tour for you. Just visit our tour page at http://www.flyingdogales.com/legend-tours.asp

We've started limiting our tours to 25 people so that everyone can have a great time - so show up around 30 minutes early and sign up to grab a spot and get your brews!

Yeah, my younger sister and cousin did it and were not too impressed... Then I told them about the Fuller's tour, it's pretty good and you're actually in the brewery... Hm, I'll have to see if there's any way I can post some pics!

Hey DeviDog, take a look at this thread (elsewhere on our site):

Any advice for our fellow member?

Surf: If for nothing more than a beer in the Sky Bar at Guinness, you should take the tour. The old advertising section is pretty cool too.

And yeah, the Fullers tour in London is great - their pub serves a wonderful Stilton with chutney on brown bread sandwich that pairs perfectly with the ESB.
