Since I live here in Nebraska and have had only a slight opportunity to taste beers from different micros in KS, NE, and IA, thought I would take this chance to see if anybody has good suggestions.

From what I have had here are some of my favorites, in no particular order.

75th Street Brewery's IPA

Freestate Brewery's Ad Astra Ale

Court Avenues O'Leary's Irish Red

Empyrean Ales Third Stone Brown

I have only started to discover what real beer is in the last few months and need all the help I can get.

Try Boulevard's lineup out of Kansas City. They have a solid Pale Ale, an excellent Porter, and a crisp Wheat for the hot summers in the plains. They also have a tasty seasonal, Bob's 47, which is a Munich dark attempt. I'm not sure how their distribution works (although I'm pretty sure they're available in Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa).

Cheers!

Boulevard's website is www.blvdbeer.com and they are available here http://www.blvdbeer.com/loc_set.html

Bob's is out right now and should be available for a little while before the Nutcraker comes out in November.

If you like Freestate's Ad Astra you need to hit Lawrence and try all the beers, especially this time of the year when Steve has his winter warmers on tap. If you come down this way let us know I am sure we could link up as I am only 30 minutes from Lawrence and there are several others on here in the area.

Some how I managed to forget Boulevard. I have tried the wheat, and the pale ale. Just noticed the Bob's in the store last night, and will have to give it a try. Boulevard is readily available in the stores in Nebraska, and the Wheat is on tap at a lot of bars, but not the Pale Ale.

I don't get to Lawrence very often. I just happened to pass through on a business trip with my boss (he's a KU graduate). I took home a growler of the Ad Astra, and told him every time he goes back down I will send it with him for a refill.

Do you/can you get any Minnesota beers in Nebraska? If so I would recommend just about anything from Summit brewing, and most of the varieties made by Schell's other than thier Deer Brand and Light. While niether of them make blow you out of the water styles or funky unique Belgian beers, they make quality beers that are quite good.

I checked on getting the Minnesota beers, seems neither distribute into Nebraska. I have decided Nebraska must be some sort of waste land, must be too few of us real beer drinkers here.

However, I did find a liquor store yesterday that has Spaten's Octoberfest, I will be tasting very very soon.
