Hello all! I am in the process of brewing my very first batch of beer.

I was wondering... My dishwasher is less than a year old, and it has a cycle called "Sanitize". Will this be sufficient to sanitize the equipment for making the beer? Or should I use the iodosophor as well?

Also, if the sanitize cycle is sufficient, and I do use the dishwasher, would the JetDry fluid do damage somehow to the beer?

Thanks!

The sanitize cycle on your dishwasher is more than sufficient for sanitizing your bottles. Just make sure that they are clean, first. When you get done with a bottle of beer, I have found it really helps cleanup to fill each bottle with some warm water, cover the mouth with a finger, and shake vigourously. Much easier than trying to clean caked-on gunk with a bottle brush, months later.

As for the Jet Dry, I've no idea. It shouldn't hurt, but try it, let your taste buds be the ultimate judge, and don't forget to report back the results to everyone. :)

JetDry is a wetting agent, I think. It will not hurt the taste of the beer, but it may affect head retention.
