Winter and the Christmas season is around the corner... What winter warmers, and winter seasonals are going to be in your bar fridge this season?
Regards, cattersley.

The one that is mellowing out in a carboy in my pantry and smells amazing. Used maple syrup, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, allspice and nutmeg.

Sugalou and myself just brewed a Christmas Ale with 2 row, Crystal, Carapils and chocolate malts. With honey, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and vanilla.
Smells awesome! A nice warm beer to sit by the fire with and enjoy the season and family.

That sounds fantastic. I just picked up something simular to that called Wychwood Ba Humbug Christmas Ale, 6.1 ABV, it was fantastic.
Anywho out there that finds something interesting in there local LCBO in Ontario related to the winter warmers topic, please, post a review...
Cheers all.

Hey Cattersley, you out in Oshawa?
Shugalou and myself are in Whitby. The next time we get together to sample homebrews you should come along with a few of your latest.
I do AG and Shugalou is just transitioning from extract to all grain.

Like Kul said we're working on a Christmas Ale right now...Can't wait to try it out.
I also made a Pumpkin Pie Ale (got the recipe from BYO.com) which I'm dying to try. I mashed apx 7 pounds of pumpkin along with some ginger, cinamon, allspice, nutmeg and some grains.
I should be set for the holidays with those...but just incase I also brewed an IPA and most recently a cream ale. Can't be too safe.

That sounds great. I am looking to get into brewing my own and would be quite interested to see your set up, and sample your brews.
That pumpkin brew you mentioned sounds great. I no recently there was a couple of beers in the states for there thanksgiving had a pumpkin them, one by coors, blue moon, and another by AB, old jack.
Cheers, cattersley.

I've got a squash ale, a Russian Imperial cinnamon raisin oatmeal stout and an old ale for the holidays. Also some cherry mead for the non-beer lovers.

Well, it's getting cooler outside and man's fancy turns to ... darker beers. A nice dark beer always warms me up inside in the winter.
Shugalou and myself bottled our Christmas Ale "St. Nick's Wort" last tuesday - the sample tasted awesome! A very nice red beer with honey, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and vanilla bean!
Supprisingly, the spices are not overpowering. I was thinking "mulled wine" but it's not. Just the right hint, although as it matures I know they will get stronger.
Just made my Irish Red ale yesterday and will make some more cream ale soon. After that it's Porters, Stouts and Bock's for the cold Canadian Feb through early spring.
Gotta brew!

I picked up a 500ml bottle of Picaroons Winter Warmer on Friday night, but I'm thinking of saving it for next xmas.
I'm bottling my winter warmer next Friday, I'm planning to use maple syrup for priming. I've got my fingers crossed that it will be carbed and drinkable by Dec 25. Looks like it's going to finish right around 7% abv.

Had a pint of Bushwakker Mistletoe Ale on Saturday night, an 8% warmer. I found it a little rough (the roasted malts didn't seem to mesh with everything else), but I've got a bottle stashed away for next year.
My homebrewed warmer was not ready in time for xmas. I tried a bottle last weekend and it was overcarbonated and extremely green. I opened all of the bottles to release some carbonation and will try one again in a month or so.

The Eisbock arrived late to Regina for the Festiv-Ale beer festival in early November, so it was not available. Bushwakker was planning to purchase the shipment and sell it at the brewpub (as they did with the Picaroons that also showed up late), but it sadly got shipped back. What a shame...
