hey, for corney kegs, I have the gas and air disconnects and both have the same size barb (probably 1/4 inch because a 3/16 beer line seems to fit on it).

my question is, my gas lines are 5/16 ID lines and fit on my regulator just fine; do i use a splicer or something such as below to go down from my 5/16 gas line to a 3/16 gas line? this seems strange to me. i would think the gas disconnect would be larger since most (i think) regulators are for 5/16 ID lines.

thanks

edit - i just called and spoke to a guy where im buying some new hoses and an air line splitter... he said i should just tighten down the 5/16 ID hose with a clamp to fit on the barb (1/4") which is normally for a 3/8 ID line. I said "no air leakage?" and he said not at that pressure.

what do you think?

Josh, gas line size doesn't matter at all (there's no resistance to a gas, so the calculation is irrelevant, compared to beer line, where there is resistance due to width and length, so it does matter). you can use the cheapest hardware store bought stuff you can find. I'd also head to your (mega or otherwise) hardware store, those fitting adapters can be found in the plumbing section if you really need them.

I'd use a clamp no matter what size hose. cheap insurance compared to the price of a tank refill. Also, after the first time you've pressurized the whole system, do a leak test with a little soapy water on all your fittings....

thanks danno....i just didnt want a ton of splices in the CO2 line... just more places where things can go wrong. since ill have 3 kegs, ill have 3 CO lines. I looked at the fitting and I dont think i could tighten a 5/16 ID hose around the 1/4 inch barb and have it air tight.

i found and ordered these, which is exactly what i need. i didnt find them anywhere else.

thanks again.
