Sitting here waiting for Hurricane Isabel to hit and worrying about the trees that might come crashing thru the roof, I realized a bigger crisis was imminent: What about my beer collection!
What if I could only save one beer? Nah, at least two - one for each hand as I run out the door.
From my existing assemblage I would take the Abbaye des Rocs and the Westvleteren12.
Would you take something you have not yet tried or your favorite?

I'd protect the rarest stuff first - vintages, one-time brews, impossible to find, etc. You never know if or when you'll come across 'em again. Most of my favorites are readily available at the store or by trade. Stay safe and dry!
Cheers!

Does it sound sick if I admit that I'd LOVE to go through a real hurricane? I think my dream job is to own a chain of brewpubs that makes me enough money so I can chase tornadoes across the plains (this is my secondary dream job; I'm still holding out hope that Geddy Lee of Rush will break his hand and ask me to play bass for him while he sings).
Keep us posted on your situation, and know that you and your loved ones will be in our prayers.

Hey Fret, How long are you going to wait for the Geddy thing. Hell is RUSH still recording or touring. The last I knew this was 2003, not the eighties. Well chase your dreams, I too think a torandoe chase would be cool.

A former co-worker of mine started this company a few years back. I have to admit I thought he was crazy at the time.

There is an idea for naming brews - you can name them after hurricanes or major weather systems.

Coastal Extreme Brewing did just that. Brewers of Newport Storm beers, they named their flagship & seasonals for weather-related terms:
-Hurricane Amber Ale (flagship beer named after the Hurricane of 1938 that buried Providence)
-Thunderhead Irish Red Ale (spring seasonal)
-Maelstrom IPA (summer seasonal)
-Regenschauer Octoberfest Lager (fall seasonal)
-Blizzard Porter (winter seasonal - named for the Great Blizzard of '78 that shut down much of New England for weeks)
Cheers!

And a wonderful, friendly brew-pub that tolerates overzealous American home-brewers! ;)
