...and the interviewer asked what i do when i'm not at work. i went through the list; gym, snowboarding, cycling... then i said i brew my own beer. the interviewers eyes lit up. guess that's an uncommon answer?

i kind of hoped then we could start talking about beer for a bit but it didn't happen. still, if i get the job then i will be convinced that beer is pure magic.

I did the same thing... and then got asked if he hired me if I would bring a keg or three to the company christmas party.

Guess who's now the production manager of a busy print shop?

woot!

I too brought up home brewing in an interview. We then spent 40 plus minutes talking beer. He offered me a job but I turned it down for another position.

Did ya get the job yet?

If not, why work with a bunch of Anti-beer snobs anyway!

I've been tossing around putting AHA member and homebrewing as answers to applicable questions on a job application for a job in which I am interviewing in 10 days. Sure is something different and interesting, but seeing as it's for an airline pilot position, I am wondering if I better just let that one be something to talk about after (hopefully) getting hired. The thing is, I know one of the interviewers is a big beer drinker, but we aren't sure about some of the others. Thoughts?

I believe your kine of thinking may be correct considering the position. Yet, how do you know the beer information of one of the interviewers? If your info is true, it might be worth while to bring into the late stages of the interview if possible. It could help sway that individual to rewarding you with employment instead of the another applicant.

i would state that your are a member of the AHA. the AHA is not AA. by showing that your are part of a professional group that advances homebrewing, in my mind, makes you a responsible drinker who cares about the subtles in the beer and not just getting loaded. that might not be true, but that is why you put that sort of crap on a resume. to let them know your are a responsible person.

i hope you get the job. jobs are cool.
