I have to say that I love this site and all the info it contains, but for my first post, I'd like to share a quite horrifying story. Yesterday, I was brewing up a nice batch of Russian Imperial Stout, and I was enjoying some of Stone's Smoked Porter as I did so. After 3 or 4, I started getting a little peckish and the only thing lying around the house were Nutter Butters. So, what the hell, gimme some of those. Well, after the first bite, and THEN washing that down with a mouthful of the porter...it tasted like I just licked the undercarriage of my '67 Gladiator! So, learn from my mistake and don't mix peanut anything with a porter!!

I used to love Guinness Extra Stout and Oreo cookies.

I mean, c'mon - what wine would you order at a fine dinner to go with your flourless chocolate cake desert? A nice, robust red, no?

SWMBO loves guiness and chocolate or chocolate ice cream.

I wouldn't suggest dill pickles with a Porter either.

not that it was bad, but last night's Hefe with fajitas didn't work - the flavors totally washed the other out.

My homebrew Hefe was superb with blue cheese, it brought out a slight sweetness in the cheese, but still had all the complex goodness.

Boston Beer Works actually brewed a Peanut Butter Porter a couple years back. Not heavy on the PB taste and I hear it was a bitch to filter. Unsure if/when it'll return to BBW, as the brewer has moved on to another job.
