Well we're hoping anyway.

Washington, DC
Mom and baby doing fine (one stout to the good).
.....
Your sons, Edina, social, kind,
With open arms the stranger hail;
Their views enlarged, their liberal mind,
Above the narrow, rural vale;
Attentive still to Sorrow's wail,
Or modest Merit's silent claim:
And never may their sources fail!
And never Envy blot their name!
Your daughters bright, your walks adorn,
Gay as the gilded summer sky,
Sweet as the dewy, milk-white thorn,
Dear as the raptured thrill of joy!
Fair Burnet strikes the adoring eye,
Heaven's beauties on my fancy shine:
I see the Sire of Love on high,
And own His work indeed divine!

Congrats! Now I know why you insisted on the designated "family area" in the HH. That's great news.

Congrats.
BTW - the Sweetwaters in Merrifield and Centerville have always been great places to take a baby - the staff always makes a big deal and gets your food and drink orders out quickly. We are still taking our two-year old to those locations whenever we can.

Of course they get your orders out quickly. A quiet happy baby is simply a ticking waa-bag time bomb as far as a restaurant is concerned. Some places are better adapted to it than others, though.

my congrats too! Way to go Pops!
(My all time favorite just-had-a-baby scene involves the grandpa, Colm Meaney, in "The Snapper"--remember that pint of Guinness he has in the pub across the street from the hospital? One long draught? Hope by "one stout to the good" you mean you treated yourself similar-like!)

I love that scene (btw it was mom with the Guinness. Good for nursing so they say).
Dessie Curley: [at a pub, after Sharon's delivery] 7 pounds 12 ounces.
Loner: Is that a baby, or a turkey?
Dessie Curley: A baby!
Loner: That's a good-sized baby.
Dessie Curley: Right.
Loner: Small turkey, though.

Actually, not hoppy enough. Per my wife's doctor's office, they recommend hoppy beers during nursing as the hops stimulate milk production.
To paraphrase the doctor as she looked at me during the appointment, "I don't mean Budweiser or anything like that, look for Tuppers made by Old Dominion Brewing in Ashburn. She should have no more than one of each six pack - you'll have to drink the rest".
It was at that point that I realized becoming a father was indeed the best thing in the world.

Wow, you guys must really love your doctor:D . I split a beer with my wife nearly every night when she was feeding the rugrats. I dunno if it stimulated milk production, but the kids sure did sleep well!
