Sounds like the plan is to set something up in Winchester. But when you go to the link, it says the domain name is still available.
Very strange.

I wonder if the name Virginia Brewing Company is still trademarked? Anyone been to the brewpub in Winchester? I heard it was a small extract system.

Definetly does not make it worth the drive. I can make my own bad extract beer (hopefully soon).

That depends. There used to be an extract brewery in Charlottesville that kicked serious ass. Course the brewer was a degreed German Master Brewer but I digress. Most breweries simply don't use extract b/c of the cost but a good brewer will make good beer no matter what the medium.
However, I have heard -- don't know if it's true -- that this operation is a dump-n-stir one in which case yes, I wouldn't go either. Other similar set-ups aren't well known for good, inspiring beer.

Yeah, I heard it was like the Beadle system that was being sold a while back. The one with "No brewmaster needed".

sorry, didn't mean to insinuate that "extract" equals "bad", I just meant when I do it.
Still, there's a lot of great beer options between fairfax & winchester.

Here is a quote from the site:
Here's What
Our Customers Are Saying...
"We brewed 17 tanks of beer our first 3 weeks after opening. That's over 1100 pints a day. Not bad since tourist season doesn't start for another month. "
- Dale
Piccadillys', Winchester, VA

1100 pints a day? I find that -- cough, cough -- hard to believe.
The best quote from the manufacturer's website is:
"Our malt extract brewpub system assures
absolute consistency and
*much more drinkable beers than those
found in most brewpubs*
with a wide range of styles from Light
Beer to Stout."
Dems fightin words I tell ya.

Look at your process -- specifically the density of the boil. One of my customers just placed very high in AHA NHC with an all extract beer that we formulated together. Nothing out of the ordinary about it, per se.

I very much plan on stopping by (soon) to your LHBS and discuss getting started up again - and in the right direction.
Or, I could just invest in this system - sounds too easy to be true.

I love Google, and PubCrawler. This pretty much sums up about what I'd expect:

I just like how they (the system manufacturers) present not having a brewmaster as a good thing - pesky people that know what they are doing.
It's like having a good restaurant, but not hiring a head chef.

wow, in all my years of reading pubcrawler those may be some of the worst reviews ever.
This in fact may be the worst brewpub of all time, wow....and just down the road from the ancestral home of the denver brewhoo clan....
