How much is too much to pay for a fermenting system?

I work in public relations for a company that introduced a new fermenter. Admittedly by the company, it's on the higher end side when it comes to $$. But, from what I've learned, it's very high quality. So, maybe value-wise, it's worth it.

I'm not here to promote it (if you're curious, contact me), but I am interested in the top level you'd be willing to pay for a fermenter?

$300? $600? $1000? $1500? $2000?

For a 12-gallon capacity fermenter, or something in that range. (Thanks HogieWan.)

While I have enjoyed homebrewed beer (thanks to my former brother in law) and micro brews, I know little about the craftsmanship and process. The dollar amounts above are semi-educated guesses from the fermenters I've seen advertised.

If you'd rather me plug in a poll so you can give me your $0.02 anonymously, please let me know.
Thank you!
Mike

My wife recently gave me one that cost $750. That's more than I would have paid but she knows I'm worth it.
Seriously I can't imagine paying more than that and I probably would have bought the similar model for 500 if it had a bigger bottom dump.

i've been looking at the minibrew brand ferementers and for a 15 gallon they are going for just over $300. i plan to purchase one before the end of the year, but i'd be interested to at least learn about your product if it's comparable

For $2,000 it better be stainless, jacketed and come with a glycol chiller.

for $300, plastic.

Lemme guess, you're writing from TMS and we're discussing the new fermentor? It's very pretty but, IMO, not enough bells-n-whistles for something double in cost to the closest competition (look at Blichmann's Ferminator for the more realistic high-end of the market). Now if it also brewed coffee and facilitated email...

I tried the link you mailed me but it doesn't work. I then went to the company web page but it doesn't mention a fermenter either.

OK I looked at it and it sure is pretty, but I don't see that it has any advantage over mine that cost half as much. For the price of this unit I could have mine glycol jacketed.
