I took my two-year-old to "Dinosaurland" this weekend in Front Royal, VA.

www.dinosaurland.com

A very cheesy roadside attraction, with a huge giftshop attached (go figure). As we searched for the perfect keepsake for our son, I stumbled across a "Brewer's Best" kit near the t-shirts.

The giftshop ended-up having a wall fully dedicated to homebrew supplies - not "Mr. Beer" level stuff, but no kidding real brewing (extract) supplies. A host of DME's and LME's, hops, dried yeast and brewing, fermenting and bottling supplies.

A very strange find in a very strange place.

My son lives in Las Cruces New Mexico. The homebrew shop there is with a swimming pool supply store, but that's not as weird as a Dinosaur Land shop.

When I first started legally brewing back in 78, My homebrew shop was in an extra room off of a gift shop in a strip mall.

I've always wanted to see that cheesy Dinosaur Land. I've driven by many times and even read articles about it.

It was worth the $5 admission ($14) for the "kitch" factor, but the gift shop was as much of an attraction as the dinosaurs. Recommend you bring a toddler to truly appreciate it.

When I started brewing in OK, the shop and homebrew club where associated with a 2nd hand, antique, Junk store. They had a back room where the club meet to swap lies and brews.

Dinosaurland rules!

And near some very pretty country, too.

The homebrew supplies make perfect sense if you know how to catch dinosaurs. Dinosaurs LOVE beer! Give them lots then get them while they're drunk.
