I want to age my Irish red ale over about the course of about 2 - 3 months by keg conditioning it. Generally I brew and let ferment in the primary for 7-10 days and transfer to secondary. I then filter the beer for clarity and reduce sediment. The question I have is should I force carbonate before aging the beer or just purge the keg with CO2 and pressurize it and carb days before serving. I was not for sure if it made a difference. Is there anything else I should know before I cellar my beer? Thanks.

Keg conditioning works the same as bottle conditioning. If you plan to filter your beer with a .5 micron filter, you'll need to add a little conditioning yeast with your sugar before kegging. See this letter (http://www.byo.com/mrwizard/1257.html) in BYO about reducing sediment in your keg.

Good luck,
