the airlock is going "tappa tappa tappa"
brewed a bass ale clone. curious to see how it turns out. it was brewed on the new turkey fryer propane stove. my plan was to boil 5.5 gallons and end up with a full 5 gallon batch, but a boilover lost me that .5 gallon buffer.
natsy mess these boilovers can be. i was waiting for the wort to boil after adding the LME so i turned the flame up justa tad and it hit FAST. no potholders within reach so i stood there looking stupid as the sweet wort ran over the sides.
i even christened my homebrew wort chiller. a minor design flaw needs to be fixed - water from the input side dripped into the wort. i need to modify the chiller so the tube ends come over the side of the kettle. no biggie, just remove a few coils to add some length.
this is perfect timing, i started in on the last case of my may batch tonight. this new batch will be ready in 6 weeks. i usually drink a beer or 2 every few nights, so i'm set.
1 mistake, i forgot to take the O.G. of the wort before pitching the yeast. i'd love to know the alcohol content of this batch since it was 6 pounds of malt extract and 1.5 pounds of steeped crystal.
