I just moved from Atlanta to New York and have been unable to find a LHBS. So, I'm thinking about ordering my supplies from morebeer.com. Before I do that I wanted to know what have been some of your experiences using them. How long do they take to deliver, how's the product quality, things along those lines. Any feedback would be great. Since I've moved (about 2 months ago) I've not brewed and I've really got the itch now especially with the NFL season cranking up.

I've had good experiences with Morebeer - fast deliveries, nothing out of stock, fresh ingredients, great option for packing your yeast in a cooler-sleeve.

They are great, and good people to work with, too. But I can't believe that you can't find something at least semi-near. Even if you order it for shipping, it won't have to go cross country. I have my LHBS ship stuff about 25% of the time and I usually get it the next day, so yeast and glass worries are a lot less. Shipping is usually less than gas to drive to the store to get it.

I've dealt with this place once, on a recommendation - located in Islip, NY. Granted it was only for some black poly caps for my growlers (they rock!), but it was a quick, easy experience. Worth looking into:

I may be the odd man out, but my last order from them didnt ship for over a week after it was placed. Free shipping isn't worth it if takes forever.

I use them a lot and have never had any problems. But if you'reshipping all the way to New York there has to be something closer. Check out northernhomebrew.com. At least it's only half as far away so things like yeast will be fresher IMO.

I use AustinHomebrew.com because they are semi-close. I have a LOCAL HBS, but they don't always have what I need/want. I have had GREAT experiences with them, but I'd suggest you use the closest satisfactory shop.

I agree. Austin Homebrew is an outstanding supplier. They are professional and very prompt.
I have no experience with morebeer.

I agree on the find the closest place thats reputable for you...
For example I ordered from austin for the last batch I did. ordered something like 18#s of extract and about 10 ounces of hops and two different wyeast activators. everything got here fine except for the yeast NEITHER packet made the journey unfortunatly.. their fault??? Nope have to put it off to the weather and heat... TX is along way from Ohio here... expensive lesson learned! they may be an excelent place to order but if your shipping long ways expect bad things to happen.

the only bad thing I've heard about morebeer is that sometimes their delivery schedule on their brewing sculptures is wildly optimistic. a guy in my club ordered a brewing sculpture, which is made to order, and was quoted 6 weeks. it took 19 weeks to deliver. but, for their regular, stocked stuff, which I've bought in the past, everything has been fine...

I appreciate all the responses. They have been helpful. I found a couple of LHBS out in Long Island (about an hour away from me) but they didn't have everything I needed). In the future I plan to give them a call a week or so before I plan to brew so they can get my supplies. Until then I'm going to look into AustinHomebrew.com and Northernhomebrew.com.
Thanks again.
