I have finally made my sparge stand that I have been planning for a couple weeks. This thing is cool---made from one 4' x 8' sheet of 23/32" plywood & a box of #6 screws (1 3/4" long). Another cool project under $30!! It is all 1 unit---the part onto which the sparge water sets is 5 feet high, and the lauter tun is on a 2 foot high platform, connected directly to the 5 foot high sparge stand. Took me about 3 hours to build. Can't wait to try this out---another excuse to brew!!!!! I would supply pictures but am not schooled in complex computer usage. Sorry:(

do you heat your sparge water on the stand? and if so how are you protecting the plywood from the heat of your stove? looking for CHEAP solution myself for a three tier that can handle the heat of my stove.

Unfortunately it's not a B3-type stand...I wish it was!! All this is is a wooden stand that keeps me from lugging hot sparge water & mash into the house from the garage. Instead of rigging up chairs & stools on top of a table in the house to get the right height on things when I sparge, I can stay outside. Nothing elaborate, mind you, just something that will definitely work for me and will keep any mess (from spills) in the garage. No heating elements or anything like that are involved---I'll still do all the heating with my turkey fryer setup.

I have found a new website that has one of the most economical 3-tier systems you can purchase. I plan to get this setup when Christmas rolls around. www.brewtree.com
