Don't know yet. This is usually a sellout and I've heard only good things about the beer and food.

I think Dog Fish Head is holding another beer night at Rustico on the 23rd. I'd like to make one of these events.

wow, $60 this year? I went last year and, while it was an OK event, it wasn't that good.

Yeah thats insane. Its not like they have some kind of out of hand once in a life time line up. You got Dogfish Head and Ommegang and some others. Maybe its because of the restaurant tastings too? Is it like an all you can eat/drink thing? I guess its for a good cause so you cant really complain but it was a lot cheaper last year. Maybe they know its super popular with the 20 somethings who scalp their tickets on Craigs list for it.

Anyway I doubt Ill be going at $60 a head although I was looking forward to it. Besides Im going up to Philly the next day (and to the Grey Lodge among other places) so Ill have my fill that weekend anyway.

Don't forget that this is a fundraiser, so they can get away with a little higher price to get in the door.

I think it was considered a huge success last year.

It was a huge success last year, and will definitely sell out again. Food is included as well (and I hope they encourage the vendors to bring more this year; some places were out within the first hour). $45 for FONZ members, though, which is pretty good. And as said above, it's a charity event.

I recall that tickets were very hard to come by the week before the event.

I'd love to volunteer again (last year was a blast!) but haven't figured out how to do so yet. Otherwise there's no way I'm paying $60.

Do you happen to have the email address or phone number for volunteers from last year? I was trying to find out the exact same thing. I tried one from last year's Brew at the Zoo thread but haven't had any response. I would love to volunteer at this.

The only contact that I had from last year is Jeff Wells, and I'm pretty sure he's in Brooklyn by now.

Hey, thanks for the info. $60 is steep but it sounds like a fun night out to me! I'm just glad it's not IN the elephant house!!!

I'm guessing that at least a portion of the price should be tax deductible...

Much patience got me one of the few volunteer spots open, and luckily I'm not pouring this year so I may even remember a bit of it...

And who is it you talk to for volunteering? Maybe I'll try that angle next year.

I tracked down the volunteer supervisor for the zoo's events, and she happened to have that one spot open. The tricky thing is that most shifts are from 6-9pm (the duration of the event) but this one is 6-8 ;)

I saw a couple of tickets for sale on Craigslist today.

Well, I met up sith some friends last night who went to Brew at the Zoo, and let's just say I'm glad that I didn't go. For a doubling in price they reported beer and food running out even earlier than last year. The beer situation seemed particularly troubling. This could be a really great event, but jacking up the price and not delivering the goods in enough quantity is no way to handle it.

I was disappointed as well, and I didn't even pay. Half the breweries were done by the time I got off at 8pm, and the other half had subsequently long lines. Most of the beers were not worth getting excited about either (less interesting than last year for sure.)
