not sure if this is the correct forum but here goes....what does continually hopped mean when DFH refers to it?

Instead of doing what many brewers do, that is adding hops at 3 different times for bitterness, flavor and aroma, DFH adds hops constantly throughout the brewing process.

I know the 90 minute IPA clone recipe calls for adding hops at regular intervals, every 7.5 minutes I think.

Dogfish Head actually created a device (they may even have a patent on it) for doing the task of continual hopping. I've heard that their initial forays into this included experiments with one of those 1970s electric football games with the vibrating game board rigged up over the kettle.

In an interview with Lew Bryson, Sam talks about the pneumatic hopping machine that was created for "continual" hop additions. Not once a minute.

BYOB published an article on how to create a continuos hopping machine...basically a tube sealed off with a cap with a hole it in it. As the tube rotates from a motor the hops are slowly added to the wort.
