Hey all. My baby just called and she & her husband and my grandsons are going to be moving to Wichita in September :(

I thought I'd get a jump on things and find out for her if there are any good brew pubs or paint stores around Wichita. I KNOW there must be, but wanted your all's imput.
Thanks.

It's been years since I've been there. There's a little town called Mulvane right outside Wichita, I spent a month there one week.

Oh dear, I was worried about that. ALTHOUGH it's not like Rolla, Mo. is a hopping metropolis

I spent a weekend there but never had time to find good beer. I remember looking it up on Beer Advocate. I think there was a good paint store in the dowtown area. I don't remember seeing anything about local brewerys.

River City is the only brewpub that I can think of in Wichita although they do have a Granite City F&B (which I refuse to call a brewery!)

Other then that it is our states largest city with the least amount of breweries/bars from what I can tell.

Mulvane is right down the road and is home to Wyld Wood Winery which is owned by Dr. Brewer (yes, that is his name). They make most of their wines using Elderberries which are not my favorite but with that in mind they did have some that I enjoyed. He also has a little shop here in the KC area (in the Legends shopping center by the NASCAR Speedway) where he also sells his goods.

My advice, bring beer with you. You will not find much in that area as well nothing from OK as they have some of the strangest laws regarding alcohol in the U.S.

As I have stated before, living in that area of the country is why I started brewing. The good news may be that even in the small town paint stores you can find something worth drinking. At least when visiting OK a couple of weeks back I found something I could enjoy.

Thanks all. I'll be sure and load the car before we set off! I appreciate the heads up.
