I am brewing my wheat beer tonight, watching the ballgame, looks like it's gonna be overtime. I love football and beer.

So good to have football back.
When I started back into this hobby a few months ago it was to get a good stockpile for the begining of the season. Mission successful!!!

I hope that when you all say football, you are referring to the real thing and not the American bastardization of a real sport.
Especially after the U.S. did so well at this past World Cup!

ah, i'd prefer a good soccer match! but alas, that is hard to come by in the states, let alone at prime time! i was one of the people who got very little sleep last summer during the world cup!
lets see, miss the biggest sporting event in the WORLD or go to work tired?? easy choice! plus, my boss even let me come in late on the days that the US team was playing at 7am!
plus, the company i work for is based in germany, so there was some good natured rivalry there! especially when they all had to admit that we outplayed them!

Sorry, I am talking about good old American football. Which I don't think is a bastardized version of soccer, since they are not really related at all. I like to see big hits and high action. That's why my other sport is hockey. I did watch a little World Cup action, I think the soccer field is too big.

American Football is the only sport that gets my interest. I think watching Soccer is about as much fun as watching people run laps around a track. Not saying it is not a good sport, I just have zero interest in it. But it seems to be popular every else in the world.
However, seems we can agree on wheat beers, or least have a theme going with them right now. I just moved my Raspberry Wheat into the secondary.

Are you referring to that sissy wus sport soccer? I think American Football is more closely related to rugby.

I like college football. Don't much care for the pros. My favorite sport is hockey. Go Avs! Can't wait for them to drop the puck on this season.

Avs?? Must be a Coloradoian. I was out there this summer and tried Breckenridge Avalance Holy Smokes that stuff gave me major farts.. But I really like Left Hand Milk Stout and ESB
I may be the rare individual who loves both versions of football. That's what makes this time of the year so great. I can get up early on the weekend, watch a live English Premier League match on cable, then settle in for an afternoon of NCAA or NFL. All the while enjoying a fine brew or two... or five....

Go Chargers!

Hey Sallad, from some of your other posts it seems that you are only a bit north of me. I'm 30 minutes south of Philly in Jersey. Do you know anyway to follow soccer in this area. I might get lucky and find 3-5 games a season. Other than that, its watching the Kicks on their saturday home games.

I love football season. Anyone else in any fantasy leagues right now?
Despite living in the heartland of Texas, for some reason I'm a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Heck, with a linebacker named Joey Porter, what's not to like about them? ;)

See now, y'all just made me cry in my beer. MY season is coming to an end. Too few weekends left with a beer and my RedSox. Although this year's pennant race is going to be a loolapaloozer.
Enjoy your football, though.

Unfortunately, football season is the end of my motorsports season as it makes it harder to rent the parking lots at Giants stadium :( . At least there are a few F1 races left, but watching is just watching, it's only a real sport if you're in the driver's seat!

Not a good week in the football pool. I'm 8-7 so far, but if the Bucks win tomorrow I can get a winning percentage to start the year.
My Chargers got SPANKED today. I hope they play better next week, since I'll actually be at the game.
I'm drowning my sorrows in a GLB Edmund Fitzgerald Porter, brought to me personally by a friend from Cleveland.

hey barley ben, i have a hard time following soccer too. for one thing, i don't even have cable anymore. but even with cable, comcast (an evil monopoly) doesn't carry much. look for the women's world cup at the Linc- US is playing there in a couple weeks i think, and maybe a couple other games as well. i was at the Linc for the manchester vs barcelona match- its a good soccer venue!
speaking of the Linc- eagles are ready for a huge home opener. sorry to say, fidcastro, but looks like you're going to be 8-8 after the first week!
e-a-g-l-e-s EAGLES!!
at least monday night football is on ABC, so i'll have a couple pints of my summer bock (more ale-like that lager) and watch the eagles whoop some azz!

I had the Bucs defense in my fantasy league, and didn't start them. Oh, and Payton Manning didn't exactly come through for me, either. Sucks big time.

Why would you ever not start the Bucs? They should never ever be on the bench. I am sure you do not have a better D, unless you had NY this week. I got burned on Peyton last year. I have Jeff Garcia this year, he had a great first week.

just for the record, Randy Moss is an insufferable, egomanical a**hole, but 9 catches, a buck fifty yardage and a TD, along with an opening week victory in Green Bay, woohoo!
Man, having employees in Wisconsin just doesn't get any better than this... :D

Well, I had Carolina this week, who seemed to have a decent matchup against Jacksonville. After all, Jimmy Smith is out for 4 weeks, and the Panthers have a decent run defense. Also, two seasons ago, I did lose a game due to the last second antics of Donovan McNabb. If he were to throw for 2 touchdowns, and run for another 2 on monday night, I would have felt pretty dumb.
However, since my opponent had Randy Moss, and my league tends to reward better receivers, the entire matter was pretty much academic. I'll probably do well to make the playoffs, unless I can convince some people to make downright foolish trades. But so it goes. Wish me luck. :)

I had a very good week. Notably, I started:
1) Culpepper
2) Moss
3) Priest Holmes
4) Garrison Hearst
8 TD's between 'em.
