i picked one up the other day, but haven't installed it yet. I am kind of worried that it might melt.

Check out Williams Brewing. They sell one designed for turkey fryers. They have a picture of it. It seems a little larger than the standard ones. Good luck!

I installed one on a Camp Chef cooker. It fires when cold but stops working after that. It will not fire again until cool. This was an electronic unit and that may make a difference. I just keep a butane lighter near the cooker for flame outs. Works fine, and thats all I need.

Not trying to hijack this thread but I had a thought this weekend and it seemed to apply:
I was working on some plumbing this weekend and was walking through Home Depot. I saw one of those "spark lighters", the ones that people use to ignite Oxy-Acetalyne torches.
Anyone ever tried using one of these? Although it is not permanantly fixed, I thought about getting one just for ease. My wife is tired of me stealing her "kitchen torch"

I just use one of those refillable long necked BBQ grill lighters!
I think that is the official name!
It works fine!
