Some overseas members may have been disuaded from joining the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) because its site gives no details of non-EU membership.
I have today heard from their membership department that all prospective members need do is to send a cheque or sterling draft for £20 (that's about US$31) to CAMRA with their address and they will take care of it. Check their website for all the benefits of membership.

How mysterious!
When I tried a couple of days ago I couldn't find those details - there was only the UK and EU information.
I wonder if it was being upated at the time or whether my email prompted something.

The given "join online" link was broken when I tried on 20-Oct. I'm surprised there is no CAMRA Northamerica. Maybe the CAMRA BC guys would head this up, unless they're still sore about the US court case that ruled American beer consumers would get confused between the words Northamerican and American.
In the past it had been extremely difficult to buy CAMRA books from the US. I hear this is finally beginning to change. I still don't see any CAMRA chapters in Ireland or any mention of Ireland in any CAMRA guides to good beer. As someone headed to Ireland next month, this is a serious shortcoming.

CAMRA is a British organisation and the Good Beer Guide only gives details of pubs in the UK. Foreign countries, including the Republic of Ireland, are not included.
In fact, in my own experience the Real Ale scene in Ireland is not all that good although, of course, Guinness is everywhere (and good).
Similarly, CAMRA only has branches in the UK although I feel sure they would welcome an affiliation with a US-based organisation - just as they have one with the European Beer Consumers’ Union.
