I want to add wheat to a batch. Do you have to use wheat malt? I forgot to get some at the brew shop. I did get 1.5 lb of wheat at the store. I was thinking of boiling this... mabey 60 min???? Do you guys think this will work, or should I just skip it this batch?

Boiling it won't work. The process of mashing converts the starch in the grain to sugars with a combination of enzymes and the proper temperature. The temperature needed is from 148-158 F. If you go above that you'll destroy the enzymes. Also, you have to have malted grain in order to have the enzymes to begin with. Using a malt extract won't get you this. If you are using an extract recipe, you have to use a wheat extract as well.
The obvious question here is what is your recipe, what are you trying to make? I'm not a wheat beer expert, but for anybody to help you make a wheat beer they'll need to know.

I'm just doing my regular Pilsner. Last batch I threw in some wheat I got at the Brew shop to make a wheat beer. I'm using Munton's Gold Pilsner. Northern Brewer Hop Pellets for the wort 1oz 8%. And German Perle Hop Pellets for the secondary not sure how much yet 7%.
I think this covers it.
