Had three very nice beers in this joint last night, an ESB, an IPA, and their "Five Grain Light", the sort of blonde ale every brewpub has to serve, like it or not. This one is executed better than the run of the mill ones.....
In fact that's a good description of all three beers. Very competently made sessionable beers of the sort that I'd be proud to serve if I owned a brewpub. The joint itself is a neighborhood divey place in a strip mall in Green Mountain.
...there are no beer descriptions in the menu, no "tents" or other point-of-purchase, nothing but a chalk board that just names the beers and gives ABV "IPA-7.1", "ESB-6.2", "5 Grain Light-5.0" etc. (there were 6 or 7 on tap)
I mean the menu says something along these lines, in toto: "All our beers are served fresh from our kitchen." Yep. "kitchen".
There's no website. I don't think I've ever seen a brewpub that seems so uninterested in selling its own beer, which is too bad because it is IMHO a cut above the norm. This brewer, I think, deserves a little better for his efforts.
Drop by if you are around. The locals--who are as likely to be drinking a Corona or a Bud (why are these there? but that's a topic for another rant) as the very good house beers--are friendly if perhaps a little tobacco addicted...but all that changes July 1 in our state, no? (If you are even a little sensitive to cigarette smoke you might want to wait until, oh maybe July 3 or 4 to check this place out)
