As seen on Boing Boing (http://www.boingboing.net/2005/01/11/free_beer_thats_free.html):

Free beer that's free as in speech
Vores Ol ("Our Beer") is a Danish beer that's been released under a Creative Commons License that covers the recipe and the bottle-art.

The recipe and the whole brand of Our Beer is published under a Creative Commons license, which basically means that anyone can use our recipe to brew the beer or to create a derivative of our recipe. You are free to earn money from Our Beer, but you have to publish the recipe under the same license (e.g. on your website or on our forum) and credit our work. You can use all our design and branding elements, and are free to change them at will provided you publish your changes under the same license ("Attribution & Share Alike").

I've seen this recipe and it looks like CRAP!

Most of the people I know who homebrew (and especially on this site) are "open-source" brewers in that they share their recipes and most will ask others for opinions on recipes before they make the beer.

And since it is open source, couldn't we improve the source code (recipe) and upload it? Or even create our own open source beer site? Wait, HBD.org beat us to it.

Yea, I think this is one of those things that is more interesting to computer dorks than homebrewers. But hey, maybe this will get an IT nerd to step away from the snack vending machine and put down the soda long enough to brew a batch of beer. And as with anything open source...it can always be improved.

As a computer nerd myself (I'm a systems administrator with a computer science degree), I've noticed that a lot of other computer nerds dig real beer and a lot homebrew

My strong preference is downloading homebrew!

yep, I used to use qbrew, and i know a few other folks here still do. pretty good and simple app.

i've moved on to BeerAlchemy though due to it's more advanced features.

Too bad they don't have a linux version, looks like a great program. I sold my powerbook a year ago, I still miss it everyday.

Guess I'll just start saving for a MacBook :D
