It's being pushed heavily by US conglomo macro-breweries.

Funny how Mike claims that AB is making their beers like they do due to the heat in Saint Louis. How is Schlafly's doing so well then??? :D

Besides, "light" doesn't have to mean flavorless.

I love the guys who think their German beer is "warm," lordy.

At a whopping 5.5% abv for a light beer, of course some alchy is gonna say "American Bud... Wheeeee, good yah!" Great post my friend! I had a regular come in last year who wanted to start importing beer from Austria. Turns out that a little know past time of American macrobrewers is to copyright names of European breweries that are about to hit the market in the U.S. with similar appeal to their style. It's not just Budvar that's getting taken for a ride, Budvar just had enough money to make the stink public.

That's one of the reasons why I watch the World Championship at home. I had some local brewes yesterday when Germany won over Poland again.

What breweries were you able to hit on your visit to the States, Sturm?

"But by then, of course, the blazing hot sunshine had done its damage."

Yeah, they served it the same temp as do German beer. Bud needs to be served at a taste bud-numbing temp to truly be appreciated.

Hmph... that's a very interesting use of the word "appreciated", Bilbo...

We actually hit MAGIC HAT, OTTER CREEK, HARPOON (VT location), PIONEER, CODDINGTON, NEWPORT STORM, BUZZARDS BAY and CAPE COD.

We had some others in VT (TROUT RIVER and LONG TRAIL) and several in Montreal who's name I can't recall but we never were at their actual facility.

Your Favorite?

I've been to several of those. The Harpoon brewery used to be Catamount and is a nice facility. I toured it when it was still Catamount. Been to Otter Creek, Coddingtons, Cape Cod and Long Trail as well. Brewtopia in Montreal is pretty good as far as brewpubs go. College hangout at night. Nice scenery.;)
