I recieved a bottle of the SA Chocolate Bock in trade a few weeks back for a 750ml Unibroue Ephemere Cassis, a small bottle of Lindeman's Peche lambic, and a 12 oz. woodchuck dark & dry cider that's been lingering around. My question is, besides drinking it, are there any other suggestions as to how to enjoy this? I was thinking of either a float or milkshake. From what I've read about this beer, it is rather chocolatey (sp?) almost to the point where one would have a hard time finishing a bottle alone. And I have a feeling that it will not gain a single thing from cellaring so I feel it's best to get on it ASAP.

I've used it as a "dessert" beer - serving it with Strawberry and Cherry Cheesecake. It was a big hit.

The beer is a dessert in itself - quite sweet. Nothing that 2 people couldn't polish off, though. Save it for the next night you and your sig. other/buddy/dad/etc. want something sweet after dinner.

Beer floats are great, too.

Cheers!

I'd shy away from adding anything to a beer I have yet to taste. To each his/her own

I enjoyed this brew. I was fully expecting not to. A pleasant suprise. I also liked the SA Imperial Pils.

I broke out a bottle of this a friend bought for $2.99 (woo-hoo!) this past weekend. Shared and paired with some rich chocolate cake and farm fresh raspberry pie. Deeeelicious! I will admit to some gastrointestinal discomfort after stuffing my pie hole with too much...pie...and beer.

Cheers!

Thanks for the inspiration newport and kinjar. I'm thinking of pairing it with a sampling ofchocolate cheesecake covered in either a raspberry or strawberry sauce and a nice, moist chocolate cake just to have some options.
