I am considering visiting Belgium this October with beertrips.com.

Has anyone here been on one of their tours?

I went on my 1st beertrip in 2001. (The trip was supposed to leave on Sept 12th- obviously it was delayed!) After the first trip I haven't missed a year. Well planned, time to explore, and opportunities to visit breweries the general public will never see. I highly recommend them!;)

Well RMC, I guess we just have missed crossing paths. I went on a beertrip in 2003 (ABCD) and 2004 (Belgium).

These were spectacular trips, unlike what any normal tourist could experience. Mike Saxton is getting really savvy about these trips and he makes them better than anyone could expect.

I got a chuckle at Westmalle when I saw the sign, "No brewery tours, no exceptions", right before we toured the abbey and were invited to lunch and vespers. Amazingly wonderful.

I have since retired and hope to go on more BeerTrips in the near future.

Our group included 2 physicians, two engineers (one who lives in Germany) and we (the two engineers and I) went on every one of the 8 trips.
My son is a professional brewer and that's how I got interested.:D

RMC -- you're in my neck of the woods, where does your son brew?

Jonathan is the brewer at Piece in Chicago.
Pardon me while I brag- He won the Gold Medal at the World Cup (2006)for small Brewery and as Brewer. Visit www.piecechicago.com to read about the beers and the numerous awards.
I can highly recommend both the beers and the Pizza.
If you ever get to Libertyville, I advise you to stop by Firkin- best selection of beers outside of the Map Room in Chicago.
