Does anybody out there have a Samuel Smith Nut Brown Clone. I just racked a nut brown recipe off of BYO, or a close enough approximation, and tried a little bit from the transfer and it tasted like ass. I hope a week or two in the secondary will help the taste, but I am affraid it won't. My wife, who is 7 mo pregnant with our first, really wants me to make her something similar to Samuel Smith for when she can drink again. Can someone please help out an expectant father with a good nut brown recipe, that they have tried, and at least comes close.

you didn't say whether you wanted all grain or extract or partial---but I ran a search at beertools.com specifying all grain and "northern english brown ales" including the word "nut" and got the two recipes linked here:
http://www.beertools.com/html/recipe.php?style=20&category=All+Grain&grain=none&extract=none&adjunct=none&hop=none&text=nut
never linked here: hope that works for you

I had never been to that site before, that is a great way to search recipes.
