I have 11 corny kegs and about half of them have a slow leak. So I thought "screw it", I'm reconditioning all of them at once. This will include new poppets, and all gaskets.

Can anyone recommend a place that sells poppets at a reasonable price? More Beer is $2.70 each, and that just does not seem reasonable to me.

I also need the sizes of the gaskets. I know Danno can help me with this one. Danno, didn't you buy a big bag at Grainger a while ago?

Thanks Guys!

If you think about how long they will last, 2.70 is not expensive. I got 15 kegs at once about 8 years ago and I changed all o-rings, seals, gaskets, and some poppets. It probably cost less than $75 and it's been a very worthwile investment. There are times to be frugal, and there are times when you can cheap yourself to death. Spend the money and sleep well knowing that you won't wake up to 5 gallons of beer leaked onto the floor or your CO2 tank empty.

You could try Simgo...Canadian supplier, but we find it much cheaper than HBS stores. The parts list are here:

I might be interested in joining up with you for a bulk buy on seals and such. I've got a nice little collection of cornies that mostly still have soda-infested o-rings and I'm only about 20 minutes away from you.

Just to eliminate the obvious...you are hitting 'em with a good 30psi shot to set the seals every time you close 'em up...right?

Corky, I agree. I'm just saying it seems to me that $2.70 is way too much money for such a small device. I'd think they should be around a buck or so.

Check out this site. 2.00 for cornelius or firestone

http://www.brewersdiscount.com/productCat15956.ctlg

make sure all the kegs (and therefore poppets) are the same before ordering. e.g. see image and matching description, c/o hbd.org

Type A is for Spartanburg or Firestone Challenger V, VI, and Super Challenger.

Type B is for Cornelius.

Type C is for older Firestone Challenger (no V or VI) and John Wood 85.

Type D is for older Firestone models A, R, RA, and RC, Alloy Products and John Wood (pin lock).

As the buyer I agree that everything is too damn expensive, but I've never convinced a corporate seller of that. A 3 gram plastic hook on the gas tank door of my wife's Taurus cost $18.50 for about 1/100 of a a penny worth of plastic. I tried to convince him it was a rip off. He didn't budge even though he agred with me.

I hear ya Corky! I wish my business was that profitable!

By the way, I just found them for $1.27 at a local bar supply joint. I just saved $30. Thanks for the input guys.

I'd still like to hear about the gasket sizes, etc. Can anyone help with that?

Thanks!

That-a-boy Danno. I knew you'd have that info

Is there a distinct advantage to using silicone?

Thx

probably not at 5X the price. although, in 3 years of kegging, I did just spring for my second set of 100 each of dip tube and post o-rings...
