If you get no better answer, I would go to WWW.BEERADVOCATE.COM. There look at the beerfly section (choose it on the left side of the page), there you can select a city or area.

There is a brewpub in Maple Grove called Hops. While not bad, there are other choices I would consider better in the Minneapolis area. My suggestions would be Town Hall in Minneapolis and Great Waters in St. Paul.
thanks for tips! I am with ya on Hops-better than nothing-not much. I am bummed over the loss of Sherlocks Home-I made it there for the first time last November-I am going to check out at least one of two.

The Herkimer brewery on Lake and Lyndale near Uptown is definitely worth checking out. There Happy Hour (3-6PM everyday) features 2 for 1 pints of all their brews is outstanding. They even allow 2 different beers per order. I'd say that's my favorite bar in Minneapolis.

Have you been to Town Hall? I'm guessing not. Herkimer is a fun little place to hang for sure with very good prices on their beers and a small menu of food to choose from. But the beers I've had their have all been very subpar. Town Hall is hands down the best brewpub in MN. Always changing, always good, and diverse as hell, who else in town brews a Belgian Black Ale?
Town Hall's Masala Mama's IPA is one of the best IPA's in the midwest, very drinkable with a supurb calm bitterness, very close to Tyranena Bitter Woman From Hell IPA brewed in Lake Mills, WI.
Other midwest IPA's to reckon with IMO are those two I already mentioned along with MN beers; Great Waters Shipwreck, Summit IPA(more of an english style but still damn good), then other midwesterner's; Goose Island IPA, New Glarus Hop Hearty, New Holland Mad Hatter, and of cousre I won't forget Bell's Two Hearted.
If you like IPA's, those will all cure a hop fix:D

I'm with you on Herkimer, tavernjef. I've been there a few times and it was at best ok. They never participate in any of the Minneapolis beer events either. I would also agree Town Hall is the best! Did you get a chance to sample their whiskey barrell aged Jester's Reserve Imperial Porter? Absolutely sublime! I was lucky enough to win the chance to buy a growler of it!

I'm finding Tyranena is one of those well-kept little secrets of the micro-brew world. I found their beers in a small gas station on the way home from a Mad-Town trip a couple years ago and now I can get it just over the border.
They always show up to the Quivey's Grove Beer Fest every fall with great beer and good attitude too. I need to give their brewery a visit some time.

I picked up a couple different varieties of Tyranena about a month back and fully enjoyed them. Well made beers, especially the Bitter Woman IPA.

Yep, amazing stuff, soooo smoooth and complex in chocolate character. YUM. That stuff went fast.
The Six Pale and Anniversary were nice and hoppy too. But my fav is Masala Mama's and when it was available, the Blue Label Barrel Aged Malt and the Double Hefe.

Wow, what are you waiting for...Can I come over...?
Will it have kept that long? I'm thinking you haven't opened it yet, it's full still?

I got it the same time I got the Jester's Reserve Growler a month or two back. I was talking to the brewer, Mr. Hoops, that night and he said as long as it's not opened it should keep for quite a while. To be safe, I melted wax around the neck to make sure it was air tight.
I opened the Jester's Reserve Growler over Thanksgiving and it was in great shape! Still tasted as good as it did that night and carbonation was still there, although it was lightly carbonated to begin with. I'll probably have the Blue Label growler over Christmas.

Great idea, I've taped over the cap to do the same thing.
The Blue Label should hold up well and really wasn't relying on carbonation either, that'll make for a nice X-mas.
Enjoy and cheers!
