Beer in Riverhead (Long Island), NY

Will be in River Head, NY (Long Island) in a month-need good beer spots near by-thanks!

The Southhampton Public House is the best brew pub out there -- there's also the Brick House Brewery in Patchogue. (Neither is all that close to Riverhead, though.) If you're into wine, you're in a great spot to visit the wineries!

And if you're gonna take the advice above and make the trip to Patchogue, you should definitely stop into the tasting room at Blue Point Brewing. It's around the corner and down the block from Brick House (since BH lost their brewer, BP has been brewing for them on the BH equipment). The people there are very nice, generous samples in a nice tasting room with good merchandise.

My wife and I stopped in on a Sat. at Noon (right when they open) on our way out to Montauk and the place was hoppin' with locals and visitors alike.

But like jlttb said, it's a bit of a drive..maybe an hour?
