Anyone ever have Roque chipotle ale?? Very good beer for anyone who enjoys chipotles and beer!

I had some good chipotle brews and a some bad ones. The best I ever had was mad by Russ Scherer of Wynkoop in Denver and he helped make one for Bardo Rodeo too. Perfectly balanced. Then there is the infamous Cave Creek Chili Beer which is pretty much universally panned. I'll have to revist the Rogue version. Welcome to the board!

the beer festival we visit in Peoria every year has that reviled Cave Creek chili beer. Each year if there's a newbie going to the festival with us we make them drink it... sort of like an initiation right... here's this year's contestant "enjoying" it:

and on a side note, as we're standing there, a young african american girl is DOWNING these things! I mean, actually enjoying 4 or 5 sample glasses along with eating two of the peppers! To be honest, it was quite impressive and foul at the same time.
saw the chipotle beer at the paint store and avoided it like the plague. I just can't do these kinds of beers. I've tried and tried and find them interesting but utterly undrinkable. One such example was at that beer fest was a homebrewer's "punjab pale ale" an IPA which had 20 serrano peppers added to the keg. Neat, but one sip is enough.

The one beer that I found I only liked a small taste of was Charles Wells Banana Bread beer. I had a sample at GBBF a few years ago. A little went a long way.

I heard the pepper in the cave creek beer is actually a hybrid pepper that they grow themselves, and the pepper itself is not hot since all of the hotness comes out into the beer.

I have to say, I was less than impressed with the Rogue Chipotle Ale (sorry, Steelers). It was like drinking a bottle of chili, IMO.
I can say with no little pride that not one drop of Cave Creek Chile Beer has passed my lips:D . I've read far too many vile reviews...

I just had this for the first time and reviewed it for a silly little cinco de mayo story I did.
what I thought (http://inbeerwetrust.blogspot.com/2006/05/cinco-de-mayo-gringos-gone-wild-aka.html)

They only chili beer I have liked I had at the Great Taste. I believe it was West Lafayette's Jalapeno beer. I wouldn't want more than one pint but I still enjoyed it.

Had a chipotle mead at a homebrewers fest 4 days ago. Sweet as it hits the toungue then increasing in heat as it goes down. I thought it was very tasty but as others have said, I wouldn't drink a lot of it. At the same time Stone made a Smoked Porter with smoked peppers ( available at the brewery , for tasting only ). It was supposed to have been very tasty. I would never touch a bottle of the chili beer though.

I bought a bottle of this today at the Chef's Pantry in Rolla; Vince, the owner, said that he'd had it at a tasting & that is was good with chocolate. That actually makes sense becaus móle has both chipotles and chocolate. He said that he liked the smokiness & the tingle but that he wouldn't drink a whole bottle himself. I bought one to share :D
