I'm sure I'll be crucified for even mentioning this brand on the board, but here goes. When I was young and did not know any better, we used to drink Mickey's big mouths with the thumb ripper tops. Not only were the contents semi-lethal in large quantities, but the tops themselves would usually send some idiot to the emergency room on a Saturday night. I was wondering if one else out there remembers these things. It's been at least twenty years (thank God) since I've seen one. Cheers Jeeves

Yep, I remember them (well, kinda - those memories never were clear).
The Hefenreffer "concentration puzzle" bottle caps, too.
<shudder>I can't believe I ever drank that crap</shudder>

I remember both too. The puzzles were novel and fun.

Loved my Mickey's too. I bought a bunch of caps from morebeer that had the concentration puzzles inside them, but the caps say Private Stock on the outside. A collegue of mine was telling me about growing up drinking Private Stock in Ohio, and I brought him some caps for old times sake.

That is hilarious, I once nearly ran over a Mickey's bottle in my bank's drive-thru a few years ago

We still have big mouth Mickey's & Private Stock here.
I'll admit to drinking PS when I was a teenager. My buddy used to get 12 of them & we'd get ripped every Friday night.
This was in the early 1980's.
Anyone remember "Red, White & Blue" beer? It was a cheap lager, $2.69 for 24 of them.

Sounds like Wiedemans out here at KU in the late 80's. It was the same exact price and that meant any college student could afford a weekends worth of "beer." Thanfully by the time I hit school though I had the GI Bill and College fund and could afford good beer.

I used to like these things, in the early 70's. In central and northern VA. Wonder how large their marketing area was? You'd be the guy I'd expect to know the answer to that question.
My time with Rheingold was before i started caring what beer tasted like, but I think that it actually tasted like beer...ie the gap between it and what I like now though large was not unbridgeable. May just be nostalgia though.

Does anybody remember the Miller Ponies? They were 7 oz bottles of High Life. 3 swallows, toss the bottle and grab another. They were considered perfect for women since they never had a chance to warm up and were "lady sized"

I was introduced to Miller ponies by my uncle on a hunting trip. Great combination: drunken rednecks, and enough weapons and ammo to invade a small country. Fond memories.

Rheingold was originally a New York beer. In the 1950s they had some famous cans featuring the Rheingold Girls. The brand has been resurrected for the NYC market. Not sure how it tastes now. They have also resurrected the Rhiengold Girl contest.

I remember those, in college the campus bar had OV split night. Old Vienna lager in 7 oz bottles, 3 for $2 if I remember correctly. Those nights were pretty foggy.

I have an old Rhiengold beer tray somewhere. Granddad use to drink it, NOT the malt liquor. Pretty basic corn lager IIRC.

Stay out of the hills and mountains of southern New Mexico during hunting season. It's normal to see hunting groups take 2 vehicle. One with the camp trailer, and one with the beer and whiskey trailer piled high.

When Bush was on that recent trip to Pakistan and India he saw a woman with a red dot on her forehead standing on a street corner. He thought she had been hunting with Cheney

Our mayor or his brother shot Dick Cheney on a quail hunting trip down here about 10 years ago. This came out last week. Apparently he wasn't hurt at all but the Forrest brothers said he was pretty pissed.

How'd I miss this?? A Miller pony was my first official beer. My dad used to pack them on our camping trips because they didn't crowd out the food and milk in our cooler. I hounded him for one one year until he gave in (I was six), but insisted I drink it all. Thirty-five years later, I can still remember the flavor of the warm dregs. Bleah.

Simple explanation for the road signs in Idaho and Montana. Its hard to find a sign without a bullet hole in it. I know a guy in Montana who used to paint his ceramic deer (in his yard) orange during hunting season so people wouldn't shoot it.
