I've had this crazy idea for a long time and i wanted some feedback on it. My idea is to build a kegerator out of one of my school's newspaper bins. Obviously a full size keg couldnt fit, so pony kegs. Also, the main issue is the refridgeration of the keg. No conventional fridge is the right size, so here's my crazy idea. Build some kind of insulated capsule for the keg to fit into. There would be extra space around the keg. This capsule would then be filled with water and a pump/coolant/lines would be stolen off an old fridge and i would run the coolant lines in the water around the keg. The water transfers heat better than air, so I think it would be easier to accomplish. I know this is a pretty ambitious idea, but tell me if you even think its feasible. Thanks for any input, Shaun.

I had a friend in high school who had a really big, older model, full-sized pick up truck with a really big engine in it. This was the kind of truck that you had to stand on the bumper to work on the engine.
He blew up the engine, and decided to have some fun with the truck. He put in the smallest engine that would power the truck( a very small 6 cylinder) and a new transmission to match. He then added an extra a/c unit. Please don't ask me the logistics, because I am not a car guy. With the extra room in the engine compartment, he was able to fit a pony keg inside and surround it with coils from the a/c unit. He then added a bottle of co2 and a tap that came out under the dashboard, and we had an instant party mobile.
I told this story for 2 reasons:
1.) That truck was so cool.
2.) To illustrate that if you want to do it, there will always be a way to make it work.
What you might need to do is get 2 newspaper boxes(obtained legal of course), place them next to each other, put the cooling pump and motor in one box and the keg in the other.

There has to be a way. I say go for it. Welcome to the board and let us know how you progress.
Deco, Where were guys like your friend when I was in high school? :D

Thanks for the support guys. I probably wont do the two bins next to each other cause i'm pushing it just to get one. What about the physics of what I'm trying to do. Does anyone have much experience or knowledge about refridgeration. Im an engineering student, but I'm taking my heat transfer course next semester. Anyone with any knowledge would be appreciated.
