I learned something last night.

I learned that my Imperial Stout deserves respect and shoul NOT be served in pint glasses.

I don't feel well.

Done damage by the Czar's wine, eh? I feel the same way there are definitely beers that are served in the wrong portion for what they are.

Just lie back and hope the world ends soon. You'll be ok.

Maybe.

Sean,

Hangovers are kind of like sky diving accidents...you did it to yourself. ;) Just kidding.

I have been there many times. I no longer drink rum because of a bad "episode" last summer. I felt like I would have to get better to die. Thank goodness that I was to busy drinking to eat something, it came back up much easier that way.

Eat some greasy carb heavy foods. Or drink some more Stout.

Chilli and Wieners, with a SMALL glass of Imperial Stout, will hopefully see me right. Still have two hours in work to go though. Groan.

To each their own, but my local's Imperial Stout is 8-9% abv and I could drink it all night. Killed 3 Imperial Pint glasses last time I bought a growler, with no ill effects. Go figure.

Cheers!

I've got a new Imperial Stout on tap at the house, and I already treat it with respect. I always knew there was a use for the 10 oz pilsner glasses my boss gave me for Christmas a few years ago. They are perfect for my Impy Stout.

For goodness' sake - how many did you have? A single pint (Imperial) shouldn't have given you a hangover.

I'm curious about this dog that is certainly a distant second best to the majesty that is a Ben's Chili Cheese Dog.

Mmmmm.....lunch time!

On a similar note, I was at one of my favorite beer bars in NYC the other week and noticed that SN Bigfoot was on draught for $6.75/pt. Being NYC, this was only a .75 premium over the bar's usual price/pint. I figured maybe they messed up, it was $6.75 for a glass or something. I order. It's an imperial pint. I order another.

I've never had Gold Star, but there's a Skyline all the way up here in Bowling Green. I like the 3 way with a couple of cheese coneys on the side - then I waddle around for the rest of the day in a daze...

Ben's is a local legend but so is Vienna Inn..

Yeah, when the Vienna Inn had a bit of a fire a number of years back, folks were calling from all over the world to find out how bad it was. The place used to be quite popular with airline crews (might still be, but I haven't been there in a while - it's usually wee early in the morning when I pass by)

Ok...Will Meridian vouch for it? I'll have to do comparison in September when I come back to DC.

Maybe we should all do the comparison.

Been a while since I've been to the Inn but used to go frequently.

Always voted "Best Local Dive" in Washingtonian.

On the original theme...

I make a Russian Empy that is about 11% and I bottle it in 20oz bottles to give out as Christmas gifts. Of course a nice little warning goes along with it.

I have two left from last Christmas. We open one every couple months to see how its developing. I've had next years in bottles since February.

Sonic's! You have Sonic's down there! I remember that from when I was kid. Do they still put the plastic animals and things ont he drinks and stuff?

Mmmm...Sonic, It is about the only place we have to go when we head to OK to visit the in-laws. My wife can not live with out her cheese tater-tots and cherry limeaide.

Sonic's Footlong is the thing I miss most by living in Idaho and Montana. I haven't seen one in either state. Whenever we drive to Texas for family visits we have to stop at the first Sonic we see to get one.

The Sonics that we have hear are just regular fast food joints.

Cluckk, I spent 33 years of my life struggling to get the hell out of Mississippi and get my arse out to Idaho or Montana, but only made it as far as Texas; there you are in the middle of paradise. So shut the heck up (just kiddin', man:D !).

Until this past Christmas, what I missed most about where I lived as a shirt-tail young'un was Krystal hamburgers. Mmm...greasy, fried goodness, and 33 cents a burger. Oddly, I never got into their chili cheese pups. Now Krystal's right down the street. Just five minutes to a taste of home...

I grew up in Ft. Worth TX and hated every minute of it--I left 1 week after turning 18 many, many years ago. Of course I miss some things about it, like the food. Whatever you want you can find it--including the best BBQ. Here, variety is unheard of, but I guess I'll have to console myself with hunting and fishing in some of the most beautiful country in the lower 48. It's a sacrifice I guess I'll have to make.

I like 5 guys too. My usual choice if going out for a burger. I called them about franchises about a year ago inquiring about Centreville, VA and Ocean City, MD locations. I was told that all VA and MD franchises were taken. I know Bethany Beach has one.

That must be one good burger if you like it enough to buy a franchise!! I had a Sonic urger about 3 years ago when I was driving through Missouri. I wasn't all that impressed.

Now Culvers, that's a different story. Mmmmmmmm...butter burger.

Back in high school in Mobile AL we used to end our weekend nights with a trip to Krystal. Each of us would buy about 6 or 8 burgers and a bowl of chili. May be why my cholesterol is stratospheric now.

DC used to have a local chain called Little Tavern. They made some great and cheap burgers. You could buy them by the bag.

Agreed, Five Guys makes a mean burger, though they should come with a free side order of angioplasty.

In college there was a Krystal's ACROSS THE STREET from my dorm. Back in those days of intemperence and the ability to endure staying up at all hours--and with all the popular bars within walking distance--we'd go out and close all the bars, then stagger over to Krystal's, order a huge tray of burgers, then toddle off to bed. I had to give up the late night burger binges (not the beer, of course) when my pants stopped fitting.
