The King Brewery in Ontario, who brew a Pilsner, and a Dark Lager, both of which are horrible has now come up with a new beer blend between a Pilsner and Bock; Pilsbock. Both styles of which I love.

First of all, 13.50$ for 6 domestic beers mircobrew or not is insane! When is this going on end? Are we going to see the 15$ 6-pack in our life time? I never though so when I was younger, but then again, I can remember when paying 9.95$ for and import was a once and while treat because of the expense. So people, sound off on this.

Second, excluding the price, I would like to try this. Even though I havent been that impressed at all with what the King Brewery has come out with, this hybrid offering is interesting. I am fan of beer, and love trying things new. So if any out there did shell out the coin for this beer, lets have a review...

Anywho, cheers!

Do liquor stores in Canada sell singles? If not, split a sixer with a buddy or pony up for the beer that you admit "sounds interesting". Or refuse to buy it. If enough refuse the price will come down.

Beer prices are a funny thing. Some beers are truly underpriced and could easily sell (or deservedly sell) for an extra $1-2 at the store. And some are grossly overpriced, imo. The market will dictate whether a beer sells or not. I don't worry much about prices anymore. I spend my money wisely - and sometimes miserly. But if someone is willing to shell out $14 for a sixer, it doesn't bother me.

Cheers!

yea i could see a 6 pack being worth that depending on what it is, i mean something like DFH's 90 minute IPA, ( which is sold in 4 packs currently), or Troegs mad elf which iss 11.5% alchohol and sells for about $12 a six pack.

I have a friend from Norway and she says that the government there is actively discouraging drinking by jacking up the taxes on alcohol. Is Canada headed the same way?

Sad to say that the Scandinavian Countries have the toughest laws but high incedences of alcoholism.

Hmm. A hoppy Oktoberfest. At $2.25 a bottle. No thanks.

I have notice that there must be some wiggle room for what the distributors charges the store and what the store charges you. I have seen as much as $1.50 difference in price for a six pack of the same beer from one store to another. I would drink a whole lot more of Bell's beers if the price was a little lower. Instead I find myself buying a sixer of Bell's and a sixer of Leinenkugels.
