had the opportunity to spend some time with an out of town buddy at his new place this past weekend in Tennessee. The old gang was there and so we all brought some of our best beers to share. Here's the lineup:

Sam Adams Utopias 2003
Dogfish Head 120 Minute
Stone 8th + 9th Anniversary Ales
Wostyinje Mustard Beer (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/322/9749/)
Rogue XS Imperial Stout 2002

and a bunch of each of our own homebrews and micros like Tuppers Hop Pocket, SNPA, Flying Dog In-Heat Wheat, Gila Monster, Big Hoppy Monster

Utopias for sure. I found myself "virtually" tasting it in my head the rest of the day. I couldn't get the flavor and aroma out of my brain. Have about half a bottle left and some night soon plan to sit down and have another small snifter and relish it.

The 120 minute was actually dissapointing. So much alcohol and malt that we couldn't find the hops! However to have two beers of over 20% alcohol whithin an hour is something to be remembered!

The mustard beer came of being through a club competition where we are using 1oz of mustard seed in the brew/mash/dry 'hop' etc. We found about it online and had a local beer store special order it. Surprisingly the mustard aroma was nill and flavor was just a hint. Not at all as much as I expected. First taste of my homebrew version is pretty interesting. Just enough spice and the best taste of homebrew I've had from a primary. Hoping for good things from this one.

The stone 8th and 9th were fourth and third respectively after the Rogue XS.

I 've got 4 Utopias. I'd like to open them soon.

treat them like a cognac. store out of sunlight and at room temp. it's not carbonated so go ahead and open one. they will last for quite some time.
