Just found out this week that the old Walter's Brewery in Eau Claire was razed not so long ago. Does anyone know of any articles on line about it? w
What I'm really interested in is getting a hold of one good black and white photo of the old place, seeing as Walters's is/was one of my special faves. Anybody know anybody who might have one?

There have been a couple of articles and a thread here as well. It was either the BCCA or ABA magazine that had pictures of the demolition. Very sad to see it go. I remember drinking from the tap in the wall. Welcome to the board, by the way.

Chaz,
Thanks for the reply. I look forward to being on board. I'm a Wisconsin-born guy with Wisconsin beer interests, but after that I'm pretty much all over the place. I hope to find one of the articles you mentioned through google.
What I'd really like to find is the recipe for the Walter's Pilsener. That's the brew I was familiar with, first sipped in 1975 right after high school graduation. Wish I could have sipped from the beer on the wall! That reminds me of the St. Mary's, Pennsylvania brewery that also did that...they called it The Eternal Tap. Still have the shirt. The beer was/is called Straub. Wonder if they are still around. Talk about tiny little places! Beer was quite good!

I've drank from Straubs tap on several occasions. Mostly during the late 70s and early 80s. They are still there. You could drink all you wanted, you just had to wash your glass when you were done.
Here is a fairly recent thread about Walters:

and this one has some pictures:

I remember Walters taking over brewing of my grandfather's favorite drop, Bub's Beer when the Peter Bub Brewery went out of business in 1969. Many of the old photographs of him through the 20th century had a bottle of Bub's in them.
