View Full Version : Two Less Little Bastards In The 'Hood...

Triple Freak

We've been assaulted for the last month straight by 2 little bastards riding their off road ATVs thru our neighborhood. Several neighbors have called the police on them, mostly because they terrorize the smaller children playing in our area. After 10 or so calls to the police, they finally caught the little bastards running wild thru the 'hood. They impounded their little toys, and their parents are crying the blues because they have to wait to go to court to even apply to get the ATVs back.
Oh, woe is me, whatever shall I do, now that my kids got caught riding an off road vehicle thru a residential street? Fukking little terrorists. Serves them right. A Lt. came to my house tonite to verify I placed a complaint & asked me if I'd be willing to go to court to convict the parents of neglect. I was more than willing to agree to this.
They were riding thru the streets at 60+ mph, no helmets, and no regard for human life. They even drove some poor lady off into a ditch to avoid hitting their stupid sorry little asses. Say what you will, I have no mercy on the little bastards.

Sounds to me like a classic case of "what comes around, goes around!" Go for it, it is job security for people in my profession.

If you needed a license to be a parent, there would be a lot less problems with children!

We had a case here a couple of years ago where 2 kids pushed an ATV to the convienence store to fill the tires with air. A cop stopped and told them it was illegal to drive that machine on streets. They assured him they would push it home so he left. Of course 2 minutres later thye idiots got on it, took off and hit a car killing one of the kids. The parents tried to sue saying the cop should have arrested the kids. Of course it was the parents who gave the kid the keys, and the cop couldn't do anything any way because the kids were on private property. If he had arrested them the parents would have sued for something else.
I used to have a problem with kids riding ATV's and dirt bikes down my alley until I put up an illegal gate. I went toe to toe with the county commisioners and assured them that when their liability insurance, not mine, covered the alley I'ld take the gate down. It's been there 10 years and I haven't had any problems with ATVs in the alley

Funny how stuff like this never really hits you until you have kids. I'm a lot more like an old fogey than I was 4 years ago! I even call the cops when the college kids across the street party past 12.

Totally the parents' fault. Though I think the kids should have some age-appropriate culpability as well. Pardon me for getting joy out of this case, but if they're convicted I will be well pleased. Hope the case gets lots of publicity.

What's an ATV? Is it what we call a quad bike?

That is bloody typical.

These morons will blame anyone and everyone else for the incident, instead of facing the fact that it is their own stupid fault.

They were the ones who got the kids a dangerous vehicle and they were the ones who failed to supervise them, but when something goes wrong, they look everywhere, but at themselves, for someone to blame.

They are probably still bitching and griping, to anyone who will listen, about the injustice of the system and how the cop got away with such negligence. It would never occur to them to take responsibility for their own actions.

Grrrr. Angry at stupid people now.

And the cop involved got so depressed he quit and moved away, and he was a pretty nice guy-he even homebrewed.

Just another glaring example of bad, if any, parental guidance. It's sad, in a world where we have found cures to just about anything that ails us we can't teach children how to behave and have respect for all things. :(

Maybe I would too if my twin 3 yr old boys weren't being woken up by all of the racket. If the college kids would come over and soothe all of the crying, then we could negotiate, but until then, I live on a fairly quiet street in a residental neighborhood. I wake up at 4 am to provide the sole income for my family. If they are going to party after 11pm Sun - Thurs or 12am Fri & Sat, then I'll call the cops.

I'm with you Grog. years ago I ad teenage neighbors. Their mother worked the graveyard shift at a local mine. As soon as she left at 10:00PM the party started. I can't tell you how many times I confronted them about the noise until I finally started calling the law. I felt bad about it, but a working guy has to sleep. When I'm getting up at 4 am to drive 90 miles and work a 24 hour shift I can't listen to that crap till 3 AM.

It seems we have similar problems- we too have various nugget kids riding off road bikes- probably stolen- around along with those mini motorbike intended for kids- I often see some cretinous adult(!) on those- usually charva scum- criminal lowlights. Unfortunately the bastards live too near us- I'm all for bringing transportation back, wonder if the Aussies would mind us dumping some human shite on 'em!? Only joking Australia- wouldn't want to be that nasty! The moon looks a good choice though.....

Incidentally corkybstewart- hell of an awkward job you've got there- 90 miles then a 24 hour shift- what the hell do you do for a living?

I don't have any kids, and even if I did, I would at least try to ask the neighbors to keep it down after a certain time. I wouldn't think about calling the cops except as, and ONLY AS, a last resort after all else has failed.

Bloodaxe, I'm a geologist in the oilfields of southeast New Mexico and West Texas. The 24 hour shifts were was my old job, did that 12 years. For the next 12 years I did consulting for a bunch of different oil companies. There were weeks where I would only come home once or twice to change clothes and hit the road again. When I bought my pickup truck I put 46,000 miles, not km, in six months. My field days are over, now I sit in an office 10 minutes from the house and I don't work more than 8 hr/day.

Sorry about that- re-reading your posting you did say "years ago". Bet life is simpler but more tedious now? We still use miles over here (along with pints!), as they haven't foisted kilometres on us yet, but I daresay the time will come. Remind me not to buy your "genuine low mileage pick-up truck"from you though!

In the past 5 years I only put another 130,000 miles on it, and now I have a car provided so the truck sits at home, driven only on weekend trips to the dump. And office life ain't so bad. I spend more time on realbeer than I do actually working on most days. But it is strange having a normal schedule for a change.
