I live in Canada, known for our great beer (and if you live in Ontario, ridiculous beer prices because of taxes).

"Premium Imported" beer selections at the Beer Store consist of beers such as Stella Artois, Hoegaarden, Amarca Bavaria, Corona, and Heinken... but when I was there today, actually about and hour ago I picked up the latest eddtion, Braham.

This beer is brewed in Brazil by Ambev, formally Inbev... formally Interbrew.

Here is the 411. Like beers in the this catagory, it's price is 44.95 per/24 355 ml bottles (A ripe off).

I love beer, and imported beers. Brahma is what they advertise, very smooth, with no bitter aftertaste at all. But the problem, there is no taste period! This is a 4.8 abv, nice at first but there is not kick, no taste sed for the beginning, the middle, and especially end is no where to be seen, or in this case... TASTED.

I am not normally one to slag a beer this much. I had been looking forward for sometime to try this beer. What a disappointment.

All I have to say is 24 beers for 24$, if you live in Canada you will no what i mean, and that is my 2 cents.

The last time I could buy 24 for $24 in Saskatchewan was the summer of 95, when there was a Budweiser promo on.

When you say Ontario is expensive, how so? I remember beer being ridiculously pricey when I was in Vancouver, no wonder they all buy crack there. In Sask, a 6 pack goes for $11-12 for most Molson/Labatt/Sleemans products.

I'm no expert, but the Brazilian beers I've tried have all had no taste.

Been years since I tried Brahma or Brahma Chopp. Probably 20 or so. I do not remember it being anything beyond swill. Welcome to the board Cattersley.

Unfortunately there is a growing trend of beer continuously rising in price as well as taxes on them. In Ontario in the last 3 years the price of big brew domestic 6-pack has gone from 9.25$, to the current price of 10.95$. This is absolutly highway robbery, and has spurred on development and growth in the value beer category at the Beer store and LCBO from Breweries such as Lakeport, Laker(Owned by Brick Brewery), President Choice (Also brewed by Brick), Steelback, Stohs Canada, which all sell a 2-4 for 24$ + 2.40$ depost on bottles with the except of Steelback which is 28$. There is alot of beers in Ontario, and especially Quebec that sell for less than 30$. The disgusting thing in Qubec, since it is deregulated there is alot more price wars, and you can get Molson, Labatt, Bud, and Coors, for 21.95 + tax = 25.00$ for 4 bottles.

While in the U.S.A., specifically Florida, where beer is taxed at 4%, like everything else sold a 24 of bottles will on average cost you 15$ CDN, and cans costing 12$ CDN.

While in the U.K. I was paying 18$ CDN for 24's of Stella Artois, 1664, Heinken, and Amarca Bavaria.

We are getting ripped in Canada for beer!

Anyone who see's this post that lives outside of Ontario, and Quebec, please post beer prices, I would love to no, and compare them...

Canada has always been big on "sin" taxes... we're getting screwed good. That's one of the reasons I started brewing my own.

Like I said, 6-packs go for about $11-12 in Saskatchewan, which is the same as I was paying in BC, but that was 6 years ago, so I imagine it's even more expensive there now.

The last time I was in Alberta, I bought 6-packs of Black Label for $7... they were for a friend, not me. I was buying every import that wasn't available in Sask for myself...
