I've heard that the wort reacts with the aluminum but it takes several batches till it has any effect on you brew. Don't know from experience though.

You can use it although (needless to say) make sure it doesn't have any rust etc... Also, there was a rumored connection between aluminum cookware and alzheimers that has since proven to be invalid so if you hear that don't worry.

-----Amending my reply ------------

After doing a little digging I found that the Aluminum Alzheimer link has never been proven in any convincing way.

So I agree with the below from YamahaXS - go for it.

I'm considering purchasing a Turkey fryer for full 5 gallon wort boiling. Most seem to be aluminum, but I have found one that is stainless steel.

One in particular is a 7.5 gallon stainless steel pot, with stainless burner and spigot on the pot for $99. Just do a search for 'Masterbuilt Stainless Steel Grand Slam Turkey Fryer with Turkey Tap' and you should find it. Anyone tried this one & or seen it in person?

I figure I can always upgrade to a better pot later, and keep the stainless burner if the pot turns out to be junk.

Sam's sell one similar (pot doesn't have drain spout) for about 70 dollars.

Lowe's catalog lists a burner (cast iron) and enameled steel pot for 20$ but I can't seem to get the order through on their website. Going to call them when i get home.
