Thieves Make Off With $26,000 of Beer
WEST BEND, Wis. - Authorities are hoping to break up what must be quite the party after beer thieves made off with almost $26,000 worth of suds from a delivery truck.
A semi trailer loaded with cans and bottles of Miller beer was stolen from a trucking company in Richfield, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Department report. The trailer was found four days later ? sans beer ? at an Oak Creek trucking firm.
The trailer had been dropped off at the Millis Transfer Co. sometime on Feb. 17 for delivery to a beer distributor in Menomonie, authorities said. Later that night, the trailer was discovered missing.
Company officials didn't report the loss immediately because they thought a driver must have picked up the wrong load.
The sheriff's department is investigating with Oak Creek authorities and Miller officials, said Sheriff's Capt. Dale Schmidt.
The missing product, valued at $25,788, included:
? 384 24-packs of Miller Genuine Draft cans
? 560 18-packs of MGD 12-ounce bottles
? 980 18-packs of MGD 12-ounce cans
? 40 24-packs of Miller Light 16-ounce plastic bottles

OK, so Miller is hardly known for taste, but after a few.... Don't get me wrong anyone, I love craft brew and quality as much as everyone else here, but I'm not quite as picky as some of the people here may be.

Nope, I would not have had even one. Don't care if it was free.

My dad's uncle tells a very funny story that happened when he was in Japan right after VJ day.
He was a ordered to go help unload a ship load of beer that was supposed to be distributed to the troops. He was helping a young Lt.(who my uncle says was not very bright) count cases as they were loaded on to the trucks. He says that after about 30 minutes he noticed that while they were keeping a very acurate count of how many cases were going on to each truck, nobody was keeping track of how many trucks that were loaded. So he walked over to a driver and payed him $10 to deliver a truck load of beer to his buddies. He wrote his buddies a quick note that the driver delivered along with the beers, and nobody was ever the wiser.
He still laughs about that to this day. He says that it was the best $10 he has ever spent.

Of course I still have friends that drink it, and of my family, only me, my brother in law living near Toledo, my little sister and her husband in Chicago, and my cousin, also in Chicago, have really developed a taste for the better brews. Everyone else is still basically megas- like for example, I have another brother in law in Jackson, MO, and all he ever buys is either Bud or Miller Light.

If I had to choose between cheap beer and no beer, I will choose none. It is not being picky but rather choosing to drink something with good flavor/taste/aroma and so on.

To each one's own of course, but some of us haven't fogotten the beers that we started out with, as crappy as they may be, and had well before we discovered the better stuff. The cheaper stuff got me thru MANY a party in high school and college. Of course I can't emphasize enough that given a choice between like, say, Weidemann's and Weihenstephaner, or Budweiser and Boddington's, it'd be no contest- the better stuff would win out in a heartbeat.

It's in Gibsonburg, about 20 minutes Southeast of Perrysburg. How the heck do you know about White Star?
Animal - I live a few minutes outside of Perrysburg, towards Bowling Green. My store is also in Bowling Green. Go Falcons!

I did my open water certification at White Star. I am planning on taking my step daughter and nephew down there this summer for a couple of easy dives.
