Hi,

I've been thinking about getting into kegging and I've found this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4449008750&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:UK:1

Looking for some advice as to whether this is worth bidding for or not. Can you guys tell me what else I'm going to need besides whats in the auction? Shouldn't the regulator have 2 gauges?

Thanks,
Seán

Sean,

I have found that sometimes it is cheaper to buy the stuff at the LHBS, or through a mail order catalogue than to buy it on ebay. Sometimes people get bidding fever, and the price starts jumping up like crazy, then you add in shipping and handling and you are over the limit. Not everything is like that, but I have bid on 3 separate corny keg systems, and they all ended that way.

If you want to know everything that you need, this U.S. website has a good starter kit that lists everything.

Adventures in Home Brewing (http://www.homebrewing.org/Homebrew-Kegging-System_p_24-69.html)

Good luck.

Unfortunately there aren't any LHBS's in Ireland that stock keg setups. Wexbrew says it does but that guy won't answer emails or return calls. Ebay is pretty much my only option at the moment.

Sean,

Good luck with the kegging. Some day I'd love to do it, but, like you said, living in Ireland the kegs aren't as readily available.

Anyway, a regulator with two guages will show the pressure on the input and output. A regulator with one guage works fine to regulate the output, but you can't see when your gas is going to run out.
You'll obviously have to get a CO2 tank.

Try www.hopshopuk.com for prices.
Even some of the American sites might work out ok price-wise for the smaller items.

I haven't bought from wexbrew in a while, so I don't know is he gone all together, but I got most joy from faxing him, with a couple of follow-up phone calls.
