I've heard versions of this rumour going around for a few months now. I believe it is a hoax.
Even Stone aren't such arrogant bastards.

ya, its true that it is in all about beer, BUT, unfortunatly that does not make it true. from what i have heard, this was a gag that was pulled on beer drinkers, and all about beer fell for it hook line and sinker. oh well

Yeah, Greg Koch & Stone have a good sense of humor. They had one hoax on April Fool's Day 2002 (?) about brewing a lemony malternative. Nice to know that great beer and humor mix well.

Cheers!

And the quote by Koch just sounds like BS here:

"Yes, we realize that few people will be able to pony up the $142 per-17ounce bottle price and that fewer still will even be able to find it," explained Koch. "However, we still think it's a good way to help some real hard-core beer enthusiasts part with their cash and get some free media attention to boot. Let's be real here, this is not about taste or quality or value. It's about collectability."

Definitely another Stone April Fool's joke.

well im probably a little late here ,
it was an april fools gag, i called stone and talked to one of the big wigs down there, he said it was indeed a hoax "it wasn't my idea " he said "i just went along with it." so there you have it.
i got that straight from the horses mouth. you can most likely expect another hoax next april. he also said they would never charge that much for a beer, they like to keep their beer at a reasonable price for EVERYONE to be able to enjoy.
cheers

have you seen the new hoax
the low carb beer
I like that are taking stabs at the other breweries
and it looks like dogfish is trying to get in on the april fools hoax
but not nearly as original or as well writen as stone press releases. IMHO!!!!

the new 4/4/04 vertical epic ale is no hoax-- it's a belgian hefe ale with a hint of lime that's perfect for the hot southern California weather we've had the past two weeks!
