I believe DFH uses the same caps for just about everything, as does Victory, so you won't have to look for different ones.

As the mother of twins replied when asked why she only carried a picture of one of her sons - "If you've seen Juan, you've seen Jamal".

The DFH 60 that I have has a copper cap, the 90 has a kind of purple cap, and the 120 has a green cap. I don't know about the Victory, but I was thinking of going by the paint store on wednesday to stock up for the weekend, so I will see if they have any Victory products.

Fairly certain the Middle Ages beers use similar caps for most/all of their beers. I probably have a few kicking around.

As for the others...Malt of the Earth club? My in-law is in the same club. He might still have some of the beers. I can ask next time I see him.

Cheers!

I know of a lot of collectors of crowns. A friend of mine is known as "The King of Crowns" and has been collecting since the 1950s. There are plenty of guys that collect just crowns and some like myself, who collect specific brewery items and crowns from those breweries make it into our collections. I just purchased a WWII Senate Beer crown that was drab grey instead of silver as silver paint was in short supply during the war. The most I have ever spent on a crown is about $300.00. I've got several in that range. Although I know a guy who has a one of a kind Christian Heurich crown from the Baltimore Branch that is actually Pre pro and I'd give him $500.00 for it. If he'd sell. I also collect different current crowns if they are unusual or interesting and give them to my sister who in turn gives them to some friends who own a bar and put them up on a board in their bar. I think the place might be in Green Bay area or perhaps in the U.P. Crowns are a great collectable. If you are interested, I will look up some of the collectors clubs that deal with crowns exclusively.

I've got a few from Victory, they are all bright blue caps with a red V on them.

I guess I was mistaken on the DFH, all the ones in my cap jar are copper. Perhaps i neglected to keep the ones from the 90 and 120...

Unsure if this is true or rumor (might've heard it here or another beer board)...anyway, heard that DFH put different caps on their high grav beers to ensure bottle(s) of WWS/90/120/etc. didn't get tossed into a (lower priced) Chicory Stout sixer by some unscrupulous beer lover. Even if not true, it must be easier for retailers to keep track of them now - assuming they're paying attention.

Cheers!

Matter of fact it was a trade I made with you that I was able to try the Syracuse.

Jake,

What an ordeal this has turned out to be. I went to address an envelope to you, and because I have handwriting like a 1st grader, I decided to print it. I then found out that my printer isn't working correctly, so I spent over an hour troubleshooting it and it still doesn't work.

I then threw my hands up in despair and grabbed a pen. I got halfway through addressing the envelope, and the pen ran out of ink. It then took me 15 minutes to find another working pen in this house.

By the time I found one and got the envelope addressed, I was so riled up that I needed a beer. So I cracked open my DFH 60. I will drink the DFH 90 tomorrow and send the out in tomorrows mail. Enjoy
:D

I heard the same thing. There'a big difference in price between the DFH 120 min. versus say their shelter pale ale etc. It makes sense.

Back on topic, empty CD jewel cases are great for storing and displaying your crown collection.

What a clever I idea. I keep saying I'm going to make a table (or seven or eight..okay, ten or twelve) and set the caps in mortar on the top. Of course this leads to speculation of when I'm going to finish the bar, chicken house, the...well, you get the idea

I just came back from the beer store, and in reference to the question about DFH caps all being copper, here is what I observed:

All of the caps were copper colored except for the 90 minute, the 120 minute, and another brew that was sold in single 12oz bottles. So it seems that only the higher price beers get special caps from DFH. Nice call Newportstorm.

Deco, I received your dogfish cap. Did you send more than one?

I should of mention since I work for the postal service that sending a bottle cap in a regular envelope might not be a good idea. The bottle cap in the envelope will have the tendency to jam and get torn in the automatic equipment. Your envelope was pretty torn up.

I would suggest wrapping the envelope in clear package tape to keep the cap from tearing out.

Copper. Almost the same color as this background.

The other one was purple, actually fusia, but I won't get picky. I'll try to drum up another one for you, although it may mean buying another 4 pack of 90 minute IPA.

In fact, I was going to buy a 4 pack for my brewing party on the 15th. I'll save you the cap from one of those.
