Greetings,

I am off to a conference in Boston for the first week of April and am looking at trying to find some RB members who would care to down a few and some interesting places to do such. Will be in town April 4 (my 40th) to April 8 if anyone is interested it could be a riot!

Any and all suggestions appreciated! We will be at the Park Plaza so any within walking distance is best!

Not sure how many Boston people there are on this board. I'm from RI - not sure if I'll be around or not.

Check out this guide to Boston beer - each listing has a Google map linked to it, so you can judge distance from your hotel. Though for $1.25 you can ride the T to just about anywhere in the city.

Boston BeerFly Guide (http://beeradvocate.com/beerfly/city/3/)

The nearest place to your hotel on this list is probably Rock Bottom Brewery. Worth walking a few blocks.

Cool, thanks for the links and suggestion. If you are up it would be nice to chat with someone live about beer or what ever.

Recent thread lists the draft list at the Kinsale (near gov't center and Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market). This place used to be a boring, cookie cutter Irish place, but the beer list is looking up.

Also, on the same street as the Rock Bottom I suggested is Jacob Wirth, a German/American restaurant with a decent lineup. I believe their Jacob Wirth Dark is actually Harpoon's Munich Dark rebadged. Here's the current (?) beer list from their site:

Hey, I live, work, and go to school in boston, (pretty close to kinsale) but there is no way I can do anything that week. Between work and class I have no time, but there are quite a few nice places around.

And that website is great, I work at an inn, and this is what I use to look for pubs around.

I wouldnt be the best person to ask to recomendations though, I rarely go to any decent bars, because, well, I'm in college, and my friends want cheap beer and 10 cent wings(the red hat :) )

Have fun in boston though, its a great city.

Highwyre23,

Are you sure that you won't have time for a beer or 2? That seems almost sacriligeous, but I admire your dedication.

If any of you are going to be in the area, PM me before Monday at 6am EST and we can work out the details. I will be in Boston from Tues to Sat evening and would love and adventure! Cheap college fun works as well!

I highly doubt I can sneak out to Boston for the night, but there are several beer events going on in and around the city you might want to check out to meet some beer lovers and share a brew.

Watch City Brewing (brewpub) is celebrating their 10th Anniversary on the night you arrive. Unless you have a car, it's not the easiest to get to, as it's in Waltham, but it's doable:

There is a Narragansett tasting at Bauer Wine and Spirits on the 5th. Though $5.99 is overpriced for this beer (though it is Boston), Bauer is a store worth checking out. Say hello to Nick and tell him 'michiganmiked' from BA sent you.

There's a Samuel Adams beer dinner also on the 5th - though it's $40:

Finally, there is an Allagash tasting on the 6th at The Wine Gallery, another decent Boston store:

If you're not a member of BeerAdvocate, sign up and put a shout out and I guarantee someone (or someones) will be happy to meet you at one of Boston's best beer bars, brewpubs, etc. for some beers and fun. Guarantee.

Hope you enjoy Boston.
Cheers!

I really wish I could, but its just a bad week. 6 projects in the next 3 weeks, and finals start may 1st, plus, working everyday you're here.

(I need to get that GPA up so I can get a good job, so I have more money to waste on brewing :) )

I just cant wait until may 6th.

And newport, wow... I need to look around for more of these events!

Newport,

Thanks for the links and info. Several of those sound very interesting! I will see what is up with BA.

Highwyre23,

I understand, I was just giving you a bit of a hard time. Good luck with the projects and finals! That is definitely more important.
