I found a good deal on a refurbished chest freezer this weekend so my long overdue kegerator project is underway. I'm basing my build on the collar designs here (http://www.oregonbrewcrew.com/freezer/freezer.html) and here (http://www.west-point.org/users/usma1986/42894/kegerator.htm).
My question is in the shank spacing. How far apart should I put my shanks?

it's up to you, but I'd consider how big you plan on making your tap handles, and also how big your drip tray is...

Thats a very nice set up.
I have an older milk cooler that the top half folds back, and the front side folds down. I would really like to do something like this, but cant with my type of cooler.

Well I have the first tap in, waiting to put in the second tap and get a corny for homebrew for a paycheck or 2.

In the mean time I began wondering how to age my beer without bottling? Would I just let it sit in the second fermentor or rack it into a corny and let it sit in the kegerator to age?

Great job!
Mine (http://www.west-point.org/users/usma1986/42894/kegerator.htm) are 4" center to center.
Let me know if you have any questions. I'll be glad to help you with yours.

One other thing -- I just noticed I have a typo on my kegerator site. It says I used 3/8" ID beer line, but it should say 3/16"
ID. I'd get WAY too much foam with 5 feet of 3/8".
I'll get that fixed right away.
