What does everyone here consider to be metric that the beer is clear enough during lautering/sparging with regard to tiny pieces of grain in the runoff?

I started out allowing a moderate amount of grain (maybe for 6.5 gallons into the kettle there would be a table spoon) into the kettle. Then I started getting more particular(which started taking a LOT longer) and maybe allowing a teaspoons worth. I'm kinda back to thinking that ever 2-3 table spoons wouldn't matter much. Any thoughts?
